Holiday in Norway

August 25th, 2009

Norway is an excellent country to visit for a holiday. The 3 major cities to visit are Oslo, Bergen, and Trondheim. Though there are many other cities to visit, these are the largest. At third largest, Trondheim is a city populated with just less than 170,000 people. Bergen is second largest, with about 390,000 and Oslo is the largest in population with around 1.4 million inhabitants, as well as being Norway’s capital. Norway has much to offer those looking for a nice holiday.

A Norwegian Holiday may consist of a cruise up the coast on the Norwegian cruise line, to visit all of the fjords and get a glimpse of all the different types of terrain this country has to offer. Ships sail constantly up and down Norway’s beautiful coast line, and dip in and out of the country’s vast supply of fjords. At the very north of Norway you can see the northern lights in the winter. The sun never sets in the summer, and the land flourishes with color and beauty. In the south there are amazing sights like the Preacher’s Chair and Troll Mountain that you are sure to see on a fjord cruise.

Another way to take a holiday in Norway, is to drive the E-6 highway and stop in the many small cities and camp. The trout and salmon fishing are excellent in the rivers and lakes. You can fish for trout in the day time and fry them up Norwegian style in a skillet with the skin still on them for dinner. You can also Kayak in these rivers as Norway has some really exciting rapids. The weather in the summer time is warm and dry, but the sun is up all day and night at mid summer and the weeks before and after.
