There are endless festive activities that can be planned during a 30th birthday adventure weekend. Organize a few hours of paddling down a river in innertubes and inflatable floats. Take Pleasure in an Excursion at a Brewery

We all know where to get the very best beers on earth. We know how to pick the top beers at the local pub. But have you ever considered a trip to your community, independent brewery? Find out the excitement in store and exactly what to expect if you decide to do so! Enthusiastic about your beer and local practices? Ever been to a brewery? Well it could work out to be a decent day trip! There’s the 300 year-old brewery in Faversham, Kent in Southeast England. Shepard Neame has a tour that goes on for about 80 minutes. They will show how they use the classic brewing procedures yet joined together with the most up-to-date technologies and generate a tasty range of of ‘Kentish Ales and speciality Lagers’. You will discover the traditional mash tuns, you’ll have a taste of the natural mineral water they use right from the Brewery’s well as well as stepping into a re-created coopers working area. Probably the very best element of the tour is that all audience member participation is invited! You will taste the hops and some other ingredients that go into generating the best of the greatest local beers. The whole visit here will take about 2 hours, this includes the tasting and the Brewery Store visit where you can pick up souvenirs and of course get hold of some tasty beer! Another place to visit for a tour of a very fine brewery is The Hogs Back Brewery, which is based in the village of Tongham, Surrey, between Farnham and Guildford just off the A31 ?Hogs Back? road. It is meshed within 16th century farm buildings in this quaint little village. You may expect a large amount of sampling of the award winning beers, and ales they create. ‘Our flagship real ale, ?TEA? (Traditional English Ale), has proved to be a favourite of cask conditioned ale drinkers throughout the UK and is the proud winner of many awards’. Touring local independent breweries is like a walk in the park with special little treats, taste-testing numerous unique flavors of beers and ales. Most of the breweries have quaint little restaurants where you can go and eat a magnificent meal after all of the walking around. You may even feel a little drunk subsequent to all the sampling! In 1970 there became a new improvement and movement in microbreweries. Small company owners turned a small business with ample profit to generating high quality brews that sell in the UK and overseas. These microbreweries also offer tours too. Sports Fans

Just this last week I was driving in past Oakland and at the Coliseum and witnessed these crazy sports fans. They were there for the Raiders of course, the best team in the NFL. They had on all this black makeup and silver clothes. Some had on these spiked hats and hair that was colored orange. It was such a riot, and it was fun. I got off the exit and went into the parking lot to get a closer look. I had to go kind of slow because I just got of a decompression table treatment for my back. People were eating chicken wings and drinking beer. This one guy had a whole chicken in his hand and was eating it like a sandwich. I love these types of people because they have heart and soul. They make sports fun and enjoyable, not like the boring days of the past. Luckily my wife was not with me so she did not witness any of this, she would have thought there was no taste or class in it, but she is the way she is. So, to all your sports fans that do crazy and wild stuff, right on, keep on trucking on and doing what you do.

Observation and Participation

A lot of professional poker players out there will advocate that you sit and watch your opponents for a while before you start getting actively involved in hands at the table. This is especially true if you don’t know the players at the table. In short, you’ll learn who is on tilt, who is running well and playing their A-Game, and who the fish are. But there’s something that this advice lacks. While from the sidelines you may get an idea of how players are playing generally, you have no idea how they’ll react to you when you’re in a hand.

There are split schools of thought on this. One is to continue to play tight at first and get a feel for the poker table as this adds to your image while at the same time giving you information free of charge. You cross the bridge of how the other players react to you when you come to it and begin getting more involved.

The other school says, and the one I advocate, is to get involved earlier rather than later with some marginal hands sprinkled in here and there. In this way, you get more information on how players will respond to you and you get it much more quickly. Let’s say you get a poker online player who nearly 100% of the time will fold to a bet on the turn when a Ace or King hits and he doesn’t have one. You’ve missed out on valuable capital for one, and for two, you don’t know for sure he’ll do this against you. Better to test the theory early, than have it bite you later when he decides that you’re the one player at the table that he’s going to re-raise bluff. Remember, you’re watching the other players, but they’re watching you too. So they may take your initial tightness for granted and see what you see and turn it around on you. If they fold to the bluff bet, but you won’t get into the hand, then they may make the logical jump to bluff you off the bluff you just made.

That was a kind of convoluted way of saying: participate early, and often when getting a feel for a table. After you get the feel, you can adjust accordingly, but don’t be a folding machine just to get some free information when you may be throwing away valuable equity in hands that deserved to at least see a flop.

Paradoxes of Poker

Poker is game a puzzling paradoxes because there are characteristics that apply to online poker that seem contradictory. Here are a few examples to ponder.

Poker is a game where aggression wins. And poker online is a game where patience pays off. How can that be? How can both qualities be winning factors? Don’t they cancel each other out? Can you be patiently aggressive or aggressive patient? The key is to be patient waiting for the right opportunity, then aggressively seeking to exploit that opportunity.

Here’s another paradox: You must believe you are best, while expecting the worst. When you enter a hand and compete for a pot, you do so because you think you can win it. But smart casino players always look for a reason to fold also. Sometimes you know you have the nuts, but sometimes you are painfully aware that your hand could be second best depending on the next card to come out. You must have faith, and still be filled with dread.

Another way that poker is a paradox is that it is a game based on both probability and randomness. Every player knows that any card can come out. Yet experienced players calculate their outs and determine the pot odds and probabilities even though they know that the cards are randomly dealt and totally unpredictable.

When you play poker, you must learn to live with contradiction.

Folding Draws from the BB

Let’s take a look at a poker hand. What we’re going to focus on is when to fold your draw and when to play it out.

You’re in the big blind at a 5/10 1000 NL ring game. There are six players and the stacks look like this.

SB (You)- 2000

BB- 500

UTG- 1000

MP- 1000

Cut-off- 1500

Button- 2000

You’re dealt J-9 suited. The cards are folded around to the button who raises to 30, 3x the big blind. You have three options here, you can fold, call, or raise. In most places, unless the button is just an abuser of position and will raise with any two in an unopened pot from the button, you’ll most likely never just call here. With J-9 clubs at a short-handed poker online table, you can fold and not feel bad about it. Or you can raise in order to change up your range. In this hand you opt to raise. to 100, about 3x the initial raise.

Let’s think for a second here about what hands the button could be calling with that beat you. 9-x with anything higher than a jack, all of which are unlikely except maybe A-9. Pocket 10s or pocket Qs (Pocket Ks would have most likely four bet, and pocket Jacks are unlikely since you’re holding a jack). The other two alternatives are pocket 4s or pocket 3s which could call you here for set value.

So you’ve polarized your poker online opponents range. What do you do next? If you answered anything other than wait and see the next card, you’re wrong. When in a marginal situation like this, speculation is not a good thing to be getting into. You’ll want to reevaluate your situation on the turn rather than speculate how to play your nine high.

You elect to bet out 1/3 and he simply calls. You turn over your J-9 and he turns over A-9, to take the pot down with a higher kicker. However, you saved yourself the trouble of donating an extra 700 dollars to him by protection betting your 9s instead of checking and letting him steal uncontested, and you made him hesitate getting it all in with your bet in position which gave you pot control. If anything in this hand could have been changed, you could have bet out a second continuation bet in hopes of taking down the pot with continued pressure after you showed strength throughout with a 3bet preflop. Oh well, live and learn.

Don’t Be a Calling Station

In poker online, weak passive players who continually call and rarely raise or fold are known as “calling stations.” Poker sharks love these types of players since it’s easy to milk them for all their chips. They are the suckers at the table, and every smart poker player knows that if you can’t identify the sucker at the table within twenty minutes after sitting down, then the sucker is you.

How do you know if you are calling too much? Consider showdown outcomes and the cards you get to see. You believe you are being bluffed, so you call and call, then get beat by a good hand. If this happens repeatedly, you are acting the part of a calling station. You do not have to play sheriff and keep other poker online players “honest” by calling their bets. Fold, let someone else make the call.

Sometimes you can’t let go of a made hand, like top pair or two pair, even though there is an obvious flush possibility on board. If you can’t recognize that your hand is beat and you always call even in the face of blatant evidence against you, then you are falling into the calling station trap.

There is no dishonor in folding your hand even after your have contributed several bets to the pot. Every bet saved amounts to chips you keep. When the river misses your hand, fold to any bet.

Hit the Bowler’s Paradise, Your Neighborhood Bowling Lanes

Ever met a Nintendo Wii bowler looking to take on your neighborhood bowling league with improved precision and consistency. If you accept bowling is the case, you’ve stumbled upon a key time in growing as a true bowler. Our introduction to bowling is for you. Professionals in your city’s bowling pro shop want you harness bowling potential. Just like a lot of sports, knock the pins down to win! That’s a joke. Fine, so it’s more complicated than that. It’s all good, with a little guidance we’ll have you bowling the best way we know how.

Most importantly, buy your own tailored a personalized bowling ball, which will do wonders! Fit is important. It’s no joke, get your private ball fitted, and your game will benefit. A brand name drilled bowling ball can make a substantial improvement in your game. It’s also important you’re sliding out your final step in comfortable bowling shoes that haven’t been worn out by a million people!

Now that you went ahead and found your supplies, you’re ready for the second best bowling tip: aiming the ball. As you face the pins, don’t shoot for the back of the lane. Line up using the arrows like a gunsight. Ever noticed them? It is easier to hit a point much closer. To get the most out of your aim, it should be your habit to stand in the exact spot on the floor every approach. If you do it the same every time you can make small adjustements on your aim using the arrows in the lane.

As for curves, to achieve ten pin explosion? It is the third-most essential bowler tip. They get traction with the pricy reactive ball. A lot of professional bowlers regularly roll two or three bowling balls to get heavy hooks, depending on the type of game and lane. Word of warning: begginers might want to work with just one, and don’t get a ball that is too heavy for you. Many avid bowlers use bowling balls featuring synthetic materials. Avoid the temptation, because these balls might make even moderately good pros look silly. With these tips you’re on the right track. A pro from our bowling shop will return shortly.

By: George Allen

I manage the recreational league for morning shift for Bowling Pro Shop just outside Plano, Texas. I offer tips to all bowlers online and in the pro shop. Also, I have to plug our crew at the center. Roll on!

Lions and Lambs in Heads up

When you play head’s up poker, the whole game of Hold ‘Em changes up at the casino. Hands take on different values, the odds are different, and quite often the stakes are bigger.

Among the things to consider when you’re playing head’s up online poker is your aggression level. When it comes down to two players, no one wants to lose. Sometimes a player is so terrified of losing that he’ll fold everything but pocket Kings and Aces, and sometimes even those if he doesn’t hit trips on the flop. I’ve seen players lock down and get blinded out by an opponent who just kept raising pre-flop until they were broke.

That said, head’s up games are won by either the lucky or the bold. Usually both. You can’t control your luck, but you can control how uncomfortable you make the guy across from you, and the more uncomfortable he is, the better your odds are that he’ll make a mistake and give you the game. And you want the game.

When you play head’s up, make a few raises pre-flop and try to steal some pots. Be the lion, not the lamb, and you won’t be kicking yourself when the game’s over.
